Laying on the floor with my legs up in a 90 degree angle from the floor for 36 minutes. Getting blood flow out of my feet and legs and back up to my heart and allowing my psoas muscle a little space to release the tension it’s holding.
Driving can be so hard on the body. I hadn’t realized just how strenuous it can be on the right side, especially while traveling longer distances.
Once my body had a moment to relax, my leg muscles tightened up and are inflamed, protecting me from further damage, forcing me to relax. How incredibly brilliant! and painful!
Holiday time with family can be intense and stressful. Give yourself and your family members a break by giving yourself little bits of self care to keep your mind and body healthy, feeling taken care of, by you!
This psoas release is a yogic tradition that I learned with @flyyogasherry years ago and I pull it out of my tool box often. It saved me when I was suffering from nasty Lyme symptoms and I call on it when I’m emotionally or physically overwhelmed. In times when I’m exhausted or when I feel uncertain about important aspects of my life, my hips and right leg tell the painful story. The psoas is where we hold our deepest darkest most painful memories, of this lifetime and of lifetimes past. Pain = opportunity for deeper healing.
I really pushed it to the limit getting here to Portland, and I feel pressure around what will happen next. My body is reminding me to fully be here now, to enjoy time with family, and to give myself moments to unblock, free up space, and let the pain subside. #thistooshallpass
